A casserole was a type of food cooked in a deep baking and serving dish of the same name.

In non-canon sources, other casseroles have been mentioned, such as Bavarian bratwurst casserole and broccoli casserole, both mentioned in Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise. Corn flake casserole was a variant suggested, as a joke, in the novel Ship of the Line.
